NAMM 2011 WITH MIKE AND JACKSON AND BC RICH

This year's NAMM showing was a pretty good one for Mike. Along with a display at our newest client - BC Rich - Mike was able to help the Jackson Custom Shop outshine the competition with several brand new ideas developed and debuted at this show.

On the lower left is a complete 3D carved "Soloist" we named "Judgement Day". It was sent to Mike as a neck with a block of wood attched, and this is what he did to it!

The lower right - though you cannot see it - is the debut of a brand new fret-board technique. Mike routed out the fingerboard, and airbrushed in the channel, then finished it off with a smooth polish and painted the guitar body to match.

In the upper left, you can see the latest Woodcut design - inspired by Norwegian Viking art, finished off with some distressing and a hand rubbed oil finish.

And finally, the piece de resistance.... the aluminum topped kelly. This was the biggest hit at the show and was an idea from Mike. The body was fitted with an aluminum top. Mike used the grinder to sketch in the artwork, then detailed it with the airbrush before clearing. The result is an amazing holographic, 3D effect. They sold 15 of these on the first day!!
